      @kzimmermann Like you wouldn't believe. That BPi is an active microserver, which means I can only commit *one* core. One *A20* core. Yeah...

      @koz the !BananaPi has a dual core cpu, hasn't it? :-)

      @stitchxd I've 4 !BananaPi _s and I love them (event though there are newer ARM boards now). I also have a !RasPi 2 and an #Odroid C2 @koz

      @stitchxd @mcscx I think the BPi is better as a microserver. The fact it needs less blobware (or did when I got it) is also a plus. #libre

      @mcscx Yeah, it's your standard A20.

      @stitchxd @mcscx I'm considering picking up an *eight*-core ARM device to use for some of my research code (core-heavy, but low RAM use).

      @koz it would be interesting whether an 8-core ARM computer (Odroid) is actually faster than an Intel quadcore N3150 celeron board @stitchxd

      @stitchxd @mcscx Because x86 is a power-burning, planet-roasting mess. And it's expensive to buy into the bargain.

      @stitchxd @mcscx Firmware or drivers that we don't have source code for, or can't change for some other reason (e.g. signing).

      @mcscx @stitchxd I'm pretty sure it'd depend *heavily* on workload and how well the compiler can utilize the hardware. Tricky question!

      @stitchxd @mcscx It's about as 'open source' as the average bit of openwashing. It couldn't even *boot* without blobware until recently.

      @stitchxd @mcscx This should explain it far better than I ever could: https://blog.rosenzweig.io/blobless-linux-on-the-pi.html

      @stitchxd @mcscx The rabbit hole for this stuff goes *very* deep. The solution to not knowing is education, not criticism. Or so I think.
