   @cmhobbs I believe it's my BIOS that is the issue; it won't detect the drive in AHCI mode, and IDE mode causes lots of kernel/driver errors.

     bios update might help (or better install #libreboot / #coreboot if supported ;))

     @marcus The manufacturer's site isn't working and the vendor hasn't helped yet. [libre|core]boot not supported. :(
